What is a Q-switched ND-YAG laser?

The Nd-YAG laser emits a wavelength of 1064 nm using the solid-state and active substance neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet. Using quality switched technology, the laser can be delivered to the target chromophore in a very short pulse width of nanometers and a very high power in gigawatts. One of the advantages of short pulse width at 1064 nm is the possibility of using KTP.

What is KTP?

If we place the (Potassium Titanyl Phosphate) filter in the 1064-nm wavelength patch, the frequency is doubled and the wavelength is halved; so, the green light in the visible light range with a wavelength of 532 nm is achieved by using the Nd-YAG laser.

Mechanism of action

According to the diagram of the law of selective light absorption, 1064 and 532 nm have high absorption in melanin and pigments. At 1064 nm, dark colors such as dark blue and black have the highest absorption and for light colors such as brown and green, 532 nm is recommended.

One of the most important uses of this machine is to remove tattoos.
