How does the diode laser work?

Existing diode lasers are available in pulsed wavelengths of 800 to 810 nm. The absorption of this wavelength by melanin is somewhat lower than in alexandrite lasers and higher than in ND:YAG and IPLs. With this wavelength, it can penetrate deeper into the dermis to be absorbed more into the hair follicles. This results in a thermal and destructive effect on the center of the follicle and hair growth stem cells. Due to the amount of melanin absorbance at this wavelength, this laser can be easily used in all skin types, especially skin types 3 and 4.

How effective is the Selene laser

The diode laser, by sending its irradiated light to the hair follicle, where melanin is stored, targets the pigment and eventually destroys it. The effect of laser light on melanin or hair pigment is based on the mechanism of heating it to the point of destroying the hair, which is called “photothermolysis”. Following the irradiated light of the laser to the hair follicles, the hair pigment heats up, and eventually, due to a sharp temperature rise, its components break down and lead to cell death.
