How does RAFOS (RF diathermy device) work?

RAFUS is a RF Diathermy device which utilizes radiofrequency waves for medical and therapeutic purposes. In other words, this device produces radiofrequency waves by moving electromagnetic particles within a closed circuit. While penetrating the tissue, this radiofrequency current is resisted by the tissue. As a result, heat is generated as a side product. The more tissue resistance is; the more heat production will occur.

The presence of immune system in the first outer layer of the skin (epidermis) prevent skin from burning. In other words, it is possible to reach high temperature during treatment process thanks to the immune system which balances the epidermis temperature.

How does RF diathermy waves affect your skin?

During the process, skin temperature can go as high as 60 to 65 degrees of Celsius while reaching the next layer of the skin named dermis. This phenomenon will cause an increase in the production of collagen and elastin, and repower damaged collagens as much as possible. This process increases the elasticity of the skin and rejuvenate it acting like skin lifter. To achieve the best result and get rid of all skin disorders, a tripolar handpiece is embedded in the device to adjust the distance between electrodes, so that the maximum skin penetration would be obtained.

How does it affect adipose tissue?

By radiating RF waves, the device heat up the muscles and makes fat tissue burn. This device speed up slimming process by releasing fatty acids through radiating warm waves. RF diathermy heat up the epidermis and dermis layer and causes collagen fibers to contract. As a result, the patient’s skin will become brighter.

Another effect of RF diathermy on the fat tissue is an increase in blood and lymphatic flow due to heat. By increasing the local blood flow of the tissue, post-cellulitis orange peel-like pitting will resolve. Also, RF diathermy is a good choice for removing thin fat tissues and can be perfectly suitable for removing double chin fat and arm fat.

However, this does not mean that RF diathermy is not suitable for thick fat tissues. It can remove localized fats such as the ones located in the abdomen, thigh and flank.

What are the advantages and applications of RAFOS?

  • Relieving articular pains
  • Reducing size of skin pores
  • Preventing skin sagging after fat burn
  • Resolving skin wrinkles by increasing in collagen amount
  • Repairing ice pick scars and acne scars
  • Skin lifting
  • Treating cellulitis by increasing the skin blood flow
  • Burning localized fats

In which people, using RF diathermy is contraindicated?

Using this device is contraindicated in individuals who have pacemaker devices in their heart, diabetic patients, pregnant or breastfeeding women and hypertensive patients.
